Recruiting until: 31/05/27 (current funding end date)

Summary
The ARAD study is open to both adults and children who have previously tested positive for one or more islet autoantibody risk markers for developing type 1 diabetes in the future. The study offers follow-up monitoring of autoantibody markers using home collection sample kits.
Aim
To offer follow-up monitoring for islet autoantibody positive individuals. Participants will be given information about the symptoms of type 1 diabetes, its management, and clinical trials aimed at prevention of the condition. This research aims to identify which genetic, biological and environmental factors can be linked with symptoms developing quickly or slowly.
Eligibility to take part

What will I be asked to do?
Taking part involves collected samples with our home sample kits which you return to us in the post. Initial samples Include a finger prick blood sample for autoantibody testing and a mouth swab for genetic tests. If we confirm you are autoantibody positive we request follow-up monitoring samples include finger prick blood for HbA1c, urine and stool to test markers of pancreatic function. We’ll let you know your blood results and keep to informed of any changes during follow-up.
